Richardson oelom HAPPILY EVER AFTf:R Love, I've heard of it before ... I only wish that the child books told the whole story. I lived in the illusion for years until tonight When Oii too many failures made forever never right. Love is brief. Its a first girl's kiss on a forbidden dead end street. Treasure the moment for as surely as night turns to day It begins to fade! Prince Charming and Cinderella live happily ever after But does the story tell of the disaster When his heart turns forever to stone Or of how he leaves her coldly alone? No, we never hear of their \charming\ separation leading into the \delightful\ divorce -Or of how Cinderella's heart and soul were lost during the course -Or of how P. Charming got half the marriable assets and the horse. Just write the facts for the young green-eyed girl who yearns to know. Why make her live life in a delusion? That only makes her treasured dreams die, Realizing in laughter,· That nothing having ~o do with love ends ... happily ever after. • Alice Holzhauer The Press/Friday, September 25, 1987/NINETEEN THIS ONE'S FOR YOU I've told you many times before I'm very different from the rest I don't date guys who aim to score and think they are the best. You think that's what I see in you but how can that possibly be? You've been so wonderful, it's true! - no less a gentleman to me. So, .thank-you for the times we've shared you're a good friend, you see You are one of the few who cared thanks for being so good to me! Tina Himmelsbach 9/87 \ Sad life she led shadowed in the confines of poverty. Reaching out embracing the air which is all she knew. Nobody noticed, or for that matter cared about the beautiful brown eyes that overflowed, like a toilet that'd had its share of clogs. Silence so deafening poured in from all sides, consumi11g the vulnerable heart that pants and longs for someone who cares. Just when circumstances larger than life, had seemingly gotten the best of the poor ragged girl with rich black nappy hair. Someone heard her cries, AND sent the Welfare over. Deloris Richardson
