AVe think all present must have given Miss Keihlc the praise of pre=cnting the best method for con ducting a ela«s in this branch of studv, and from experience we can recommend the plan of recitation presented by her to every teach er of tlm young. It certainly must have commended itself to fill present. From the entire absence of any exercise* in Composition and Declamation dur.in'g the* examination, wc think we have good reason lo conclude that these important items i n th- education of our you tli sire altogether U>>. much in-gleeted. Either the teachers them selves are not qnalilled to instruct in these branches, or el.-e they do not realize thcif- importance and thereby fail to discharge some of the most responsible duties resting upon them as teachers ofour common school.* AVe would not forget thq ladies of Sjiartu who were there entire, with tables splendid ly decorated and overloaded with every deli cacy the season eould afford. There wa- plenty al-o of the substantial—of the staft' of life—good bread, broiled chicken, A:c. Lorn; live the Spartan ladies.
