Eric Waters Wellwood Student /Discovered 9 fir Eric Waters of Fayetteville is ' among the more than . 600 seventh and eighth graders from New Yorif State recognized for outstanding verbal and/or mathematical ability, disco­ vered in a talent search con­ ducted by the Johns Hopkins University Center for the Ad­ vancement of Academically Talented Youth. He is the son of Nancy and Curtis Waters of Fayetteville and is a seventh grader at Wellwood Middle School. The students, who scored well above the mean of the college- bound senior, received certifi­ cates of merit in a ceremony at Syracuse, University. To be eligible for .the awards Jj ceremonies, students partici­ pated in the 1986 talent search sponsored by the Center for the Advancement of Academically Talented Youth. More than 26,000 students from more than 3,500 schools in 19 states and the District of Columbia took the College Board's Scholastic Ap­ titude Test, and more than 40 per cent of the participants scored higher on at least one of the three parts of the SAT than- did the average college-bound 12th grader of the same sex. Courses /Scheduled High school and middle school courses, driver education, a foreign language immersion program and a computer camp are schedulued to be offered this year during the Fayetteville- Manlius Summer School ses­ sion. Summer school will be held from July 7 through August 19 at FM High School. Three 90- minute classes, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 12:40 p.m., will be held daily. Driver educa­ tion times differ. The library will be open from 8 to 11:05 a.m. daily. Registration may be done in person at the Wellwood Middle School or FM High School offices or by mailing the completed re­ gistration form signed by the principal or guidance counselor to Steven Fisch, summer school principal, at Wellwood Middle School. Special registration hours are from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Monday, June 30 and 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1 in House One foyer at the high school. The courses scheduled are tentative. A course with an in­ sufficient enrollment may be dropped.
